when technology gets the best of you

I'm way to tied into this e-mail thing!

As of sometime yesterday afternoon my e-mail server went down and with it, so did I.

Much of the work I've been doing has relied on my being able to communicate with other via e-mail, with my server down I was stranded. Along with that the darker sides of my patience or lack there of began to show.

Anyway, the server's up, we have a meeting that looks will take place after all tonight and the damage really hasn't been that much.

Maybe I could survive after all if all this techno stuff I'm so attached to stopped working.

It's funny to think that at one point in my life I lived in home with no running water, that my bathtub was a plastic basin, tv was black and white and people like us didn't have one.

Wow, that wasn't that long ago. For those of you my age you're thinking where did you grow up in, well, a little village in Portugal, and until I was twelve, that was my life.

I do remember black and white TV, eight trak players.
I had recently visited a recruiter who had promised to email me some info on incorporating (usefull if doing contract work). I waited a few days and began to think I had a dud for a recruiter .. good thing I did some checks .. McAfee Security suite thought her email was spam and put it in a blocked folder .. phew .. Thanks to those who misuse technology we even more to worry about.
I saw a piece in the news the other day on modern technology. Something to do with the speed decisions have to be made in these days thanks to email etc. In referring to government, the article pointed out that leaders used to have 6 weeks to make a decision (based on the time it took for documents to pass back and forth between appropriate parties) .. now with email it has been reduced to 6 hours. The article pointed out there is something to be said for the olden times when leaders had more time to think before making a comment...

I'm going to have to get used to this McAfee thing so I don't miss messages I need to get. Thanks for the heads up.
