I continue to not really want to say too much on my blog these days. It's not that I don't have much to say - I'm certainly active enough and thinking enough. But maybe that's why - too much time focused on other things. Even so, I'm experiencing some February blahs in August. I'm a summer guy, so the fact that we really haven't had anything that resembles a summer around TO. gets to my system. Having said that, all's well in the DeFreitas world. Eventually, it'll kick in - right now I'm just going to go with the blahs.
We do have a family reunion in upper state New York this weekend. Lots and lots of people. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to this. How's that for honesty. I'm longing more for something quiet and something really warm. No, not warm, something hot - I want to feel the sun on my skin, I want to be coherced by the heat into having to jump into lake cold water that refreshes the whole body and it feels...ahhhhhhhh, not brrrrrrrr.
I'll tell you about it when I get back. Maybe.
Posted by ed | TrackBackI know exactly what you mean! I'm experiencing much of the same.

Posted by: Brian MullinsNot to sound pious but the answer you need is contentment in Christ. You have to admit you whine too much and thanklessness is a sin. Love in Christ. DJ

Your reminder that the answer to my problem is being content in Christ because it's clear I whine too much, clearly comes as a statement of someone who reads a few entries in a blog and therefore thinks they know someone or worse, someone who reads blogs at random and somehow feels they have the relationship to speak into others lives and then disappear (kind of like leaving a tract in a restaurant).
You're absolutely entitled to your opinion and to comment as you want (that's the way of the blogging world) - but don't presume to know me or think a simple statement is going to wake me up from my uncontent sinful state (If that's indeed my problem - of course it could be).
In terms of speaking into others lives and pointing out their "sin" at the drop of a hat, it's usually good practice to get to know them, before you speak. Most people will just think you are "pious" and write you off into a category of others they know 'just like that'.
So, thanks for the advice, but the truth is I have "real" people who know me "really well" and speak into all the areas of my life (including the dark and shady ones that make me the 'worst of all sinners'.)
Again, you have the right to comment as you please - but just so you know, I think that to determine someone's a thankless uncontent sinner because they didn't appreciate the weather at a given time is just a little narrow.

Some people see the glass half full and some see it half empty. That's what makes the world go roun.
So DJ you don't have to be so hard on Ed.
Posted by: TrishDon't know who left the comment supposedly by DJ, but it wasn't the real DJ Chaung (www.djchuang.com). I even checked with him.
DJ has a bit more grace.
