Someone stop me! Don't let me buy another book for a year!
I was just looking at my 'to read' shelf and realized I've got several months reading, maybe even a whole years reading in my office.
There's just so much good stuff out there.
I'm actually putting down a reading plan so I get through all of it - that's it no new books until I've read all of it.
Ok, it's not a years worth, but it's a lot...
Posted by ed | TrackBackGood luck Ed! I'm reading about 8 at a time right now! One of the books on my "to read" shelf is "Information Overload" but I don't think I'll ever have time to get to it! I think we need to start a support group (or maybe write a book) for those that have a book addiction!
Posted by: chrisI hear you bud...today...okay...tomorrow...I'm actually going to make a list of the books....Like you I work on a bunch at a time...
Hi my name is ed and I'm a book adict...I've gone 12 hours since my last read...
Posted by: ed(all together) HI ED!
Posted by: chrisHi everyone!
Posted by: edBe curious to know how many if any on your To Read shelf were written more than a hundred years ago.
Posted by: KimWhat are you getting at Kim?
Posted by: edThe better question is how many will be on shelves 100 years from now?
Posted by: Brian MullinsA couple of years back I started reducing my library. I keep no more books than three shelves can hold, so if I get a book, one's got to go. This has meant our church library and many other people keep getting books from me. Better than sitting on a shelf and never getting looked at again.
I'm not one of those who re-reads lots (except for the Bible I guess and a few books that really impact me) Most of my other books, with a few exceptions I read once and pass on. No need to keep them around, in my case it would just be for appearances, and I'd rather not flirt with that temptation (for me it's a temptation toward appearances - even pride) so I stay away.
I realize not everyone is like me - we're all different so that's cool
Posted by: edI left 90% of my books in my old office. Haven't decided if I'll sell them or donate them to the church. It was a good exercise to pull the books I really need.
Posted by: Brian MullinsHear ya bud!
Posted by: edOh I just heard John Piper ask that question in a sermon and he asked how many of our books are nonpopular.
Posted by: Kimjust wondering...I find those kind of questions (and trust me, I respect JP lots) weird questions...as if reading nonpopular books somehow would make a better person than not...what about people who don't like to read at all? This is all rhetoric...you don't have to answer...seriously... :)
