Okay, I should make this my kids' blog.....
Two things that I enjoyed listening to...
Yesterday morning, Ms. Gravelle, asked her students what was the thing they loved the most about school...Lucas was the first to speak (takes after someone I think), his response, "my favourite thing about school is loving people and caring for people." That kind of stuff gets you beat up in school doesn't it?
The other thing has to do with Alexandra...we've been trying to teach her that part of Jesus' heart is helping people feel better...so, today, when one of the boys became angry at the other boys because they had just made fun of him...Alexandra took it upon herself to go talk to him and try to make him happy. And in her own words (she's 4)..."I made him laugh!". That's pretty huge when you think that they're at the age where boys and girls don't do too much mixing....cross-gender mission work!
Anyway, way to go guys! My kids are sooooooo cool!
Posted by ed | TrackBackHonestly, I'm sorry in our Christian world view there is so little room for celebration for what is good and right. Without always having to look for all the potential pitfalls. Sorry, Jim, when My children display God's heart I will applaud and say way to go - do it again...God loves you when you live for him. You migth get run over crossing the street, so we teach them how to cross the street...sorry, if I'm preaching didn't mean to - okay, maybe just a little
I don't know how to answer you Jim. You've told me to watch out about idolizing my children or loving them more than Christ...when I applauded them for displaying the heart of Christ. Don't you think that's a big leap?
Posted by: edsorry Jen :) I hear ya! can't wait though...
Posted by: edSorry Jen, as I was deleting some spam, I deleted your comment by mistake, I apologize.
Posted by: edAm I missing something? I took Jim to be simply adding to what you're saying and offering a legitmate warning but Ed you chose to take it personaly. Maybe you are too defensive where your kids are concerned.
Posted by: KimI just disagree that it's a legitimate warning, considering the situation. Yes, Jesus did make the statement, but Jesus was talking to people who would choose not to follow him for love of something else.
I just can't believe I'm being told to watch out for loving my kids more than Jesus when I applaud them for serving him...
Honestly, it's not defensiveness...I just don't get the point.
Posted by: edLOL Ed you are like me very stubborn. Don't worry if you're wrong or if you're defensive, what do you have to lose to admit it?
Posted by: TrishWhatever guys...I'm letting this one go....and although you're right trish, i'm pretty stubborn...I don't believe I'm wrong. But that's just my opinion.
Posted by: edI've been sort of staying out of this one, but Jim stated "You're a pastor so you're probably right." WHOA! Back-up a little there Jim. I'm not taking a side here, that statement just doesn't sit right with me.
A person being a pastor. = Being right.?????
Since When?
****************NEWS FLASH!********************
Pastors are people like you and I. Their calling may differ from your calling, but they are all a part of the body of Christ. So are we. Different parts, different purposes.
I may be a little off the original post here, Ed, I hope you don't mind though.
There's a problem with us (generic "us") if we don't realize we all have a part to play in Christ's kingdom. We should never put the responsibility of working for Christ on the shoulders of pastors alone...then go on with our own lives and agendas, like if all we have to do is tithe towards their salaries.
Posted by: PeterJim:...nahhh, a pound of mule is consumed much faster than a pound of salt.
Peter, yes on the pastor stuff.
However, I think this thread just got carried away. We were often making different points about different things...I'll be happy to see this one go.
I'll keep celebrating my kids as they display the heart of God...
We'll all keep watch so that nothing takes Christ's place in our lives
And everyone else will begin to see that pastors are just people...
okay, we'll try!!!! ;)
