My friend Matt (crazy liberal), has posted his thoughts on same sex marriage. I've wanted to comment for a long time on the issue, but have held back because I want to be able to both articulate and stand behind what I'm saying. For now you can go bug Matt!!! :)
Posted by ed | TrackBackHere is some food for thought...Does anyone really believe that the state giveth and taketh away the insitution of marriage? Could an act of parliament make you un-married by nullifying the validity of your marriage?
The state has purported to bless, with legality, many things that God frowns upon; but the state can't actually bless a marriage (straight or gay) by passing a law.
My marriage doesn't depend upon the state's blessing. The state can simply bestow a set of rights, a legal status, and use a word to label that status.
My dear Rebecca, God has given you much wisdom. Yes, yes, and Amen! With your permission I will post your comment or part of it. This is exactly the kind of stuff I want to write to...I'm afraid some friends will crucify me for the position I'm taking on the matter. Update: sorry, wish I hadn't written last part...too late.

Posted by: Trishok, crucified is a little strong :) I'm just not sure it's worth it in the end for me to comment on it...I'm working through it. I don't mean to sound overly serious, I know it came accross that way...apologies...
Posted by: edRebecca, great comments! and well articulated.
Once again, we are not here to hold the world accountable to Christs' standard, rather we ought to show Christs' standard by how we live! Wow, what a challenge to us!
