Sometimes you just have to hold back...
I rented a Ford Focus today because I have to go out of town for part of the day and Vun needs the Van.
She also had an ultrasound today and so I brought the kids, who are now playing in our preschool room, with me...yes, I'm missing the ultrasound...that part sucks.
Anyway...back to the post...on the way from the rental place here, the kids figured out that back windows on certain cars roll down. And on the highway...rolled down window means highspeed winds, and highspeed winds on the hands kind of feels good. So, right from the moment we got on the highway, till the moment I got here, a good 20 minutes, they went nuts...I mean ecstatic. So much so that my initial reaction was to tell them to roll up the windows and be quiet.
But that would have made me happy and comfortable, and I would have ruined a perfectly good first experience for them, for no good reason, except that I wasn't appreciating all the noise. Once I figured that out, I remembered what that experience was like as a kid...it was a lot of fun...kind of like going back to Neverland and remembering.
So, yup, I'm still learning. Glad I didn't ruin their morning.
Posted by edBrings back memories of car rides with my uncle. My "Uncle Bill" had a great imagination and a car with a noisier than today a/c. He used to time the acceleration of the car with the ramping up of the a/c such that we were "taking off" in our plane ... thanks for refreshing the memory.
