7 years ago at this time, I was very tired, and Vania was even more tired. Way more tired.
There's something really special about your first born. Don't know what it is, there just is.
Anyway, today's Lucas' 7th birthday and I'm really thankful God's put him in my life.
Yesterday he looked at Vun and I and said, "You are the best parents that I could have!" And for all the times I wonder whether I'm screwing up as a dad. And for all the times I lose my patience, in that one moment you realize it's all worthwhile. Not just to hear those words, although they really are nice to hear. But to know deep relationship with another human being.
Four years ago we struggled with a little boy that didn't seem to be able to stop stealing (you might remember that). This weekend I watched him stand up to a friend who was trying to convince him to steal, he didn't know I was listening...
Vania and I agree, he's really cool! Oh yes, and Sunday morning, our usually, "I don't like having to sit through the service," boy...busted a move while the music was going on. Cool. Even if he can't dance...yet!
