Just picked up McLaren's new book, "The Secret Message of Jesus" this afternoon.
I like McLaren. I like how he sees the world. I like how he journeys with Christ. I like that he's not afraid to seek to find. Even if finding him leads him to places others are uncomfortable going to. I like that he helps me to think differently and expand the possibilities.
And I can't wait to get into this book. That said, here I go.........

Posted by: IanI don't like him.
Posted by: KimI may have to put my name on the "borrow list" for when you're finished.
Posted by: wilsonianI hope Kim was referring to the author and not me '-)
Posted by: IanYeah, in the Lord I love him, but you were saying you liked him for helping you think in certain ways. For me, in that regard I don't like him.
Posted by: KimSo what you're saying is you disagree with him. I get that. I'm not sure I always get the difference Christians place between like vs love. I can't hear Jesus saying, Ed I love you, but I really don't like you.
Many people have tried to convince me how the two aren't or don't have to be related, I wonder how my wife would react if I came home and told her I loved her, but didn't like her?
Not trying to get on your case Kim, I do understand not agreeing with someone on a issue. Or even not liking something they do, I just find that jumping from that to the actual person is a hard fit with Jesus' Gospel. I'm not sure how we consider others more important than ourselves, but not like them.
Just somethings I've struggled with myself, so again, I'm not trying to get on your case, just trying to work it out myself. I too have some people I have a hard time liking...and I'm trying to work through that in a manner that is Jesus' honoring.
Posted by: edYeah you're right maybe I shouldn't have been so ruthless. I like you for liking me :)
