For several weeks, I think it was three, this Spring. A couple of birds took up residence on a fern in our porch. They laid five eggs and all five matured into birds who flew away.

This was, so far, my greatest challenge, and, personally, most rewarding subject to capture as a photographer. I spent hours standing on a step ladder as the mother came and went and came and went until she became comfortable enough with me being around. The patience paid off. What I found really cool was the father came and fed the babies their last meal just before they took off. He was usually around as I took pictures, seemingly to make sure I was not up to any funny business.

Anyway, I loved this process, I think this is the same couple that was there a year ago. I'll be able to tell next year. I'll keep my eyes open anyway.
