Nina's 6 today

IMGP0627.JPG

I know it's the same question everyone else asks, but where do the years go? The other day she was this tiny little baby with the cutest cry and today she's still tiny (a little bigger), and she's still warm and cute, but she's in school now, loves bus rides, and snack time and talking to everyone and anyone who'll listen to her.

My little girl is not so little anymore, although she'll always be my little girl.

Does your blog always have to be self-indulgent. There's more to life than your children all the time.

There is?

Jn whoeevr you are that could be taken as kind of rude. Ed, I'm surprised a Christian could say that. Children can become idols to bow down to just as anything else.

Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

What a cutie, Ed!
She'd so beautiful! How's the rest of the family doing? I miss you guys... I can't believe she's already 6!!!

Good to hear from you Raquel....miss you guys as well. We just gave Marcelo his first haircut and he looks two years older all of a sudden. They grow like weeds.

Vun should be calling soon about the possibility of all of us getting together this summer and some ideas for it, but I'll leave that to her.

Hope you're doing well.

I'm not trying to be rude, honest. It's just that the time is short and gospel ministry is more pressing. Check out 1 Cor. 7:29-31:

"What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none; 30those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep; 31those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away."

Jn, I believe your intentions are good. I also believe that many people drop by on blogs and miss the point.

It surprises me to think that you can drop by on a blog occasionally, a blog that, at best, I post on very sporadically, a blog that I've mentioned before, exists for the purpose of keeping up with friends and family and where, yes, occasionally I'll post about something that strikes me as interesting...but having said all that, it surprises me that someone thinks that by reading these posts they have a handle on who I am, and then proceed to think they have the place in my life to give me advice or counsel.

I have a good church family, I have good friends, people that know me deeper than through a non-personal blog where I comment sporadically, I have people who have the place to speak freely into my life and who I am accountable to. So, although I'm going to choose to believe you mean well, you have the freedom to disagree with my points of view when I make them, you have the right to make your points, but when it comes to crossing the line to thinking you know me cause you read my blog, and beyond that, passing judgement and trying to offer counsel, I'm sorry, but it's just not your place, regardless of how you feel about that.

Anyway, that's the last time I'll attempt to explain this.

Holy, we're majorly defensive aren't we Ed?

WOW!! First off, Happy Birthday Nina! I can't believe she is 6 already!!

Secondly, where does everybody get off being so judgemental about Ed and HIS life???? His children are all gifts from God and he should be able to CELEBRATE his daughter's birthday with us!! I, for one come to check out Ed's blog to find out how his family is doing and I enjoy all of his posts...and if I didn't have something nice to say, I would keep it to myself!!! And Kim, I don't even know you, but it seems every time I come on here you have nothing nice to say, maybe this blog isn't something you should be spending your time reading, since you seem to get nothing from it!
Ed, you should never have to defend yourself to anybody... this is not your life story on here, and anybody should be able to figure that out!!!
I think everybody should stop judging Ed about his posts and maybe take a good look in the mirror at themselves.....we are NOT perfect, and I think if you have something to say to Ed, judgementally, then you should do it in PRIVATE!!! For crying out loud he was not asking for any kind of debate here!!!! This is Ed's Blog, not ours, so he can be as "self-indulgent" as he wants!!!

Sorry Ed, I just couldn't take these rude comments anymore!

I just want to say "Kudos" to Sarah. I was thinking the same thing myself!!! I personally come on this blog to find out little tidbits and facts about Ed's family, since I live far away from them... I personally look forward to and love the posts about the family, since that's what I'm most interested in.

AND I wanted to say this before when I made my first comment--people should remember something that they should have learned when they were kids, after all, this is what I tell my Pre-K class... "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all!!"

And Ed... please keep the updates coming for those of us who really are interested in them!!

I'd have to throw in my hat with those who claim there's defensiveness going on here. It's a public blog what do you expect. They have a good point. Think people. Be rational.
