The biggest oops...

Well, I'll enter this as the last installment on this oops series.

Once again, back in Essex. I'm scheduled to preach. But needed to use the washroom between sunday school and the morning service.

I made my way downstairs to washroom. And did what people do when they visit these facilities. Number 1 (some of you just need the details).

This particular morning I was in a great mood. And so, as I stood there (in the bathroom, doing my thing) I began singing "How great thou art" in a pretty loud voice, being that there was no one else in the bathroom.

Now, it doesn't seem like there's anything of great consequence in anything I've said. Except maybe sharing details that you're really didn't want to know about.

Well, I washed my hands (because my mom taught me to do that). Made my way to the back of the auditorium where the pastors met before entering through a door at the front. (very ceremonial).

But as we entered the sanctuary there was something different than the usual appearance of reverence. As my eyes connected with people, they immeadiately broke into huge smiles, some of them seemed to be laughing, and I just didn't get it.

As I sat there at the front trying to figure out what was going on, it dawned on me. I had just taught sunday school in the sanctuary. In order to teach I used the wireless mike...

OOPS...I had never turned the mike off between sunday school and the service. My moment in the bathroom boomed through the church speakers for all the church to hear.

I like it when people can have a laugh on my account.

Well, that's a week of oops from my life...there's more and I'm sure there's more to come, but I think I'll save those for a rainy day.

I had a pastor once who did that--I hope your singing voice was better than his... ;^)

I don't know about that, but someone from my old church reads the blog and had a great laugh at remembering it all over again.

I lead worship, but that doesn't mean much...

thanks for dropping by...
