It's a really cool accomplishment for her. As far as school goes, she always seems to be in her brother's shadow. So, when she's able to do better than him at something, although we don't point that out to them or focus on it, I know that she feels like hard work it's worth it. I wouldn't be surprised if in the long run she becomes a better student than Lucas, just because she works hard at it, where as it just comes easy to him, so it's easy for him to coast. But yes, we're very proud of her. I'll probably record the speech and put it on the site, as it is pretty funny.
Sounds awesome, good for her! I remember when this happened to me in Grade 8, and I went on to the Legion competition...except Xanda's topic is probably much funnier than mine - which was about archaeology, go figure!
wow! That's so great!!! Congratulations to Xanda!
We have a similar thing in our household. Everything is easy for Willik, and I can see how Phoenix almost doesn't feel worthy, but now that he's really reading, I don't think Willik can continue to think of his as a little kid who doesn't know much. Plus, Phoenix has some creative and musical talents that Willik doesn't possess.
Wow!! Congratulations! You guys must be so excited and proud!

or it could have been the yogurt she just had. Of course there's also the tell tale sign of a pediatrician who can't spell pediatrician. Nice Dave.
